World War II. 

In the obituary, it also mentions his younger brother, Elmer B. Krause, whose name appears on the Original Wall Unit at Hackensack High School, 1946 yearbook dedication page, and also the plaque at Hackensack City Hall stating that Elmer B. Krause died having been lost at sea. 

Let us never forget the families sacrifice.
